Δεν Ξεχνώ — The Story Behind the Badge

Ethnikos Assias was born in 1966, in the village of Assia. On 14 August 1974, Turkish forces took the village without a battle. Of around 2,700 people, hundreds were trapped — 84 from Assia never came home, and 70 civilians, most of them older men, were murdered at Ornithi, one of the worst crimes of the invasion. Among the missing were eight children.

The village was lost. The club never was.

In memory of the missing of Assia

Wherever its people went, Ethnikos Assias went with them — and the badge became a promise: ΔΕΝ ΞΕΧΝΩ — We Do Not Forget. Sixty years on, every shirt, every scarf and every voice in the stands still carries that promise, and the memory of those who never returned.
